Extension of the ‘Grant Scheme for the Encouragement of the Use of RES and Energy Savings in Dwellings 2022-2023’

During its latest session on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, the Council of Ministers approved an increase in the grant amount for the installation of a photovoltaic system in the residences of vulnerable electricity consumers. This pertains to CATEGORY 3B of the ‘Grant Scheme for the Encouragement of the Use of RES and Energy Savings in Dwellings 2022-2023’.

The grant amount for homes where vulnerable electricity consumers live is increased from €1,000 to €1,250 per installed kW. The maximum grant amount is now €6,250 (instead of the previous €5,000).

The Council of Ministers decided to extend the existing ‘Grant Scheme for the Encouragement of the Use of RES and Energy Savings in Dwellings’ until its replacement by a new Grant Scheme, expected to be announced in early 2024. The new scheme will include a new category, ‘Photovoltaics for Everyone’.

Specifically, the extension of the application period for the existing scheme has been modified as follows:

–    For CATEGORY 1 of the Grant Scheme (Roof Thermal Insulation): extension of application submission until 1 month after the approval of the new Grant Scheme.

–    For CATEGORY 2 of the Grant Scheme (Roof Thermal Insulation in Combination with the Installation of a Photovoltaic System): extension of application submission until 3 months after the approval of the new Grant Scheme.

–    For CATEGORY 3A of the Grant Scheme (Installation of a Photovoltaic System – General Category): extension of application submission until 3 months after the approval of the new Grant Scheme.

–    For CATEGORY 3B of the Grant Scheme (Installation of a Photovoltaic System in the Homes of Vulnerable Electricity Consumers extension of application submission until adoption of the new Grant Scheme.
