Support Schemes
in Cyprus

Support Schemes are financial measures aimed at achieving national targets for renewable energy and energy conservation. These measures also seek to improve the energy efficiency of buildings, enhance citizens’ quality of life, and reduce energy costs. They offer financial incentives in the form of subsidies or state grants to individuals and businesses to encourage investments in renewable energy and energy conservation.

The applications for these four support schemes in Cyprus must be submitted by 20/12/2023 or until the exhaustion of the available budget.

Category 3A

Installation of a photovoltaic system using the Net Metering or Virtual Net Metering method in existing dwellings. The scheme concerns installations in existing dwellings for which the application for a building permit was filed before 01/01/2017.

Maximum Grant Amount

€375 per installed kW of a photovoltaic system with a maximum amount of €1,500. For mountain areas the amount of grant increases by 50%.

Beneficiaries

Individuals who have made a corresponding investment. The home electricity bill must be issued in their name.

Category 3B

Installation of a photovoltaic system in the homes of vulnerable electricity consumers. The scheme concerns installations in existing dwellings for which the application for a building permit was filed before 01/01/2017 where a vulnerable electricity consumer lives.

Maximum Grant Amount

€1.000 per installed kW of a photovoltaic system with a maximum grant amount of €5000.

Beneficiaries

Individuals who, either themselves or another person with whom they live permanently in the same house and with whom they have a first degree kinship, is a vulnerable electricity consumer.

Scheme for M1 Electric Vehicles
or Plug-In Hybrid Vehicles

Installation (or extension of an existing) photovoltaic system, for the purpose of charging a type M1 electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The scheme concerns installations in existing dwellings, i.e. premises in which the electricity bill relates to house tariffs.

Maximum Grant Amount

€750 per installed kW of a photovoltaic system with a maximum grant per vehicle of € 1,500, that is up to 2kW per vehicle.

Beneficiaries

Individuals with the electricity bill for their home in their name, who or a first-degree relative who lives with them owns an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle in category M1, and who have had a photovoltaic system installed in their home under this scheme to charge the aforementioned vehicle.

Category 2

Roof thermal insulation in combination with the installation of a photovoltaic system. The scheme concerns installations in existing dwellings for which the application for a building permit was filed before 21/12/2007.

Maximum Grant Amount

For the roof thermal insulation:
55% on eligible thermal insulation costs with a maximum amount of €2,750.

For the photovoltaic installation:
€450 per installed kW of a photovoltaic system with a maximum amount of €1,800.

For mountain areas the amount of grant increases by 50%.

Beneficiaries

Individuals who have made a corresponding investment. The home electricity bill must be issued in their name.
